Sedimentary Memory
There are instants I capture with my camera that manifest a memory of a specific place. After I return, the same place doesn’t look alike anymore. Which one is the “real” one? Which reality is for real ? Most places are never the same again up on return. Light, weather, process of time and my perception, all render each moment in place unique. One place becomes many places. Only the instant of now is for real, for me, for my subjectivity the rest becomes “Sedimentary deposits” in my head. It is the next layer that is forming part of my interior memory landscape. After these layers get compressed and mixed it seems that occasionally emerge in form of dreams.
I need to accept that everything is changing constantly and my real existence is only in one time –“ hic et nunc”. The moment of the present becomes immateriality and what will come next I cannot see.
Here the photograph might serve as imprint of the instant that has past and with the image we can enjoy the beauty of passing time and the duality of before and now. Sometimes I can even sense what future might presents us at the next instant. I see my sedimentary memory layers as a parallel / part to the lithology of earth.
Each diptych glass box is presenting two photographic plates taken at the same place in two different instants, – emphasising on the types of perception I experienced. The glass case is made of mouth-blown glass from the Glasshütte Lamperts presenting parts of the pigment print with a certain flou. Likewise mostly our memories are slightly flou and in contrast to the sharpness of the present. I realized the photographic plates with blue natural pigmented inks printed on fine art cotton paper. Like surging dreams that I experience mostly in monochrome. The places I choose are the Mediterranean Sea, French Alps, and the architecture of the monastery Certosa Di San Giacomo in Capri.

a deep breath of the atmosphere
Calligraphic lines on the surface of the sea
Memories surfacing at the edge of the rocks
Un Souffle profound de l´atmosphere

Longing for contemplation
A mysthical dust moves the air
the light of a forgotten ritual awakens the beauty of inner memories
Désir de contemplation
Une poussière Mystique déplace L´Air
La Lumière d´une rituel oublié réveille la beauté des mémoires intérieures

The memory of the nature goes back to the creation of the world
The ancient past sinks into the geological strata
I embrace everything, my entity is nothing
La mémoire de la nature remonte à la création du monde
Le passé ancien s´engouffre dans les strates géologiques
j´embrasse tout, mon entité n´est rien
