Asperity – Stones of a silent passage

The paintings of the series “Asperity” explore Iceland’s rough, unrefined landscapes of and the connection to nature’s most essential elements: minerals, water, ice, fire, and wood. Here the artists is employing layers of paint, marble-dust and ashes on paper mounted photographs, to evoke true reliefs and asperities found in nature.

Asperity – Les pierres d ´ un passage silencieux

La peinture de la série « Asperity » explore la nature brute, essentielle des paysages d’Islande et la relation avec les éléments qui la constituent: la pierre, l’eau, la glace, le feu et le bois. Par strates successives de peinture, d’encre, de poudre de marbre et de cendres, les reliefs et aspérités de la nature sont évoqués sur le papier coton marouflé sur panneau.
